Owo Soup is made and eaten by people of Edo State (Bini) and Urhobo people of Delta State. Both States are in South South of Nigeria. It is usually eaten with boiled green plantains and yams.
Owo Soup has some nutritional benefits as the ingredients include Fish (contain omega-3 acids)
Tomatoes (contains Lycopene-beta carotene)
Chill peppers (contains loads of Vitamin C and antioxidants)
Combine all ingredients without Potash, Palm Oil and smoked fish, in a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour into a clean pot, add the cleaned smoked fish and potash.
Cook for about 15-20 minutes Turn off the fire, allow the sauce to cool for about 15 minutes.
Gradually stir in the palm oil until the sauce is slightly thickened.
